Jalapeno Burgers

I may be a real estate agent by profession, but when it comes to hobbies and trying different things, food is definately on top of the list.  I’m going to show you how to make a mouth watering Jalapeño burger, mixed with a Jalapeño cheese blend, then topped with bacon, mushrooms, Swiss and Havarti cheese.

I don’t like having my kitchen smell like fried foods, so everything is being cooked on the grill, then after the cheese is topped I place them in the oven on 400º to let the cheese melt.

2 Lbs ground beef.

2 fresh Jalapeños

Mexican Cheese blend, apprx. 1 cup

Swiss cheese Singles

Havarati Cheese singles

One pack bacon

One pack sliced mushrooms

Salt and pepper to taste

Parchment paper (optional)

In a large bowl, cut two jalapeño peppers lengthwise, remove the seeds, then dice thin and add then to the ground beef.  Add about 1 cup of jalapeño Mexican cheese blend and sprinkle in a little salt and pepper to taste. Mix all together, use your hands to mix more evenly.

I use parchment paper to form the patties.  Using the parchment paper is optional but it helps to shape them better. The patty size is also optional. After forming the patties, place them on the side and cover with the parchment paper.

For the bacon and mushrooms, keep it all outdoors!  If you have a side burner on the grill, light it up and place a iron cast skillet on the burner to heat up.  You can use a regular skillet, be careful not to burn the plastic handle. Start cooking the bacon by laying down a few slices at a time, removing excess fat after you remove the cooked bacon and before you place the uncooked back in the pan. I keep a bowl to drain the fat by carefully removing the skillet from the heat and tilting it sideways above the bowl.  Keep the cooked bacon in a small dish, and covered to keep warm.  Mid way to you completing the bacon, turn on the grill burners to heat the grill for the burgers.

Add the mushrooms to the iron skillet, and place the burgers on the grill and close the lid.  Neither one takes long to cook.  While stirring the mushrooms, keep an eye on the burgers.  Let the burgers char on one side, flip over, and let them char on the other.  How long you cook is a matter of taste and preference, whether you want them well done or medium.

Once the burgers are cooked, place them on a sheet pan line with aluminum foil.  Take all your ingredients inside and lets assemble!

Preheat your oven to 400º.  While the oven is preheating, place mushrooms on each burger, then top each burger with two slices of bacon, one slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of Havarti.  If the oven has preheated, place the burgers in for about 8 minutes until the cheese has melted.

Take out of the oven and enjoy our your favorite hamburger bun and favorite condiments, and of course if you like tomatoes and lettuce.
